In the U.S. there’s (as of summer 2026) a lot of anger and distrust of the government. I thought it might be useful to go back and see which political party has been in power since the start of the 21st century. Below are the resulting pictures, first for the federal government and then my home state, Ohio.

As you can readily see, if you are unhappy with the government now at least you should know which party to hold responsible.
